Oregon Marijuana Cultivators Get Ready for New State Tracking Program

Ganja

Oregon will require it’s 2,000 or so medical marijuana cultivators to start using the state’s marijuana tracking system. All crops must be tracked and reported to the OLCC. Under the newly enacted bill, Oregon Senate Bill 1544, all medical marijuana cultivators with three or more patients must start using the tracking system by July 1.

Registered processors and dispensaries also have to start using the new system by July 1, according to KTVZ 21 News. Recreational marijuana licensees have already started using this tracking system. Everything is tracked from seed-to-sale.

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and the OLCC have launched several workshops and informational sessions to help cultivators understand how the tracking system works. Assistance for signing up to use the system is also available. The sessions are also outlined to help licensees understand what is required to track and report their crops.

Medical marijuana cultivation sites that have two or less growers and two or less patients are exempt from using the tracking system.

To use the new tracking system, a grow site administrator must be assigned at a specific site address. The administrators will be permitted to sell as much as 20-pounds of marijuana in a 12-month period through the recreational marijuana tracking system. Proof of legal access to water must also be submitted before any marijuana crops can be sold in the market. A single grow site cannot sell more than 20-pounds of marijuana in a year regardless of the number of growers at that site.

Grow sites will be audited, as will be dispensaries and processors. Visits to grow sites will begin later this year. CTS tracking information will be verified at that time. Compliance will also be investigated.

The next meetings for grow site administrators (GSAs) are scheduled in Portland and Tillamook on May 10.

Additional GSA meetings are scheduled for:
