Oregon Dispensaries Sell Over 11,000 Lbs of Marijuana in 3 Months

The beginning of 2016 proved to be profitable for marijuana businesses in Oregon. The Oregon Department of Revenue has released sales reports indicating that from January 4, 2016 through March 31, 2016 over 11,000 pounds of marijuana was sold. This is the equivalent of 4,997,000 grams of dry flower.

In Portland alone, 4,784 pounds of marijuana flower was sold, according to KATU 2 News. The result of selling 11,000 pounds of marijuana was sales totaling $43,766,000. Recreational marijuana sales were taxed at a rate of 25-percent during that time frame. It generated millions of dollars of tax revenue for the state.

The report also shows that between February and November of 2016, $54,506,832 in tax revenue was collected.
