Portland City Commissioner Assigned to Help with Backlogged Marijuana Licences

Cannabis Oregon

When Chloe Eudaly takes over marijuana regulation in Portland, she has a big job to tackle. The city is backlogged with applications for recreational marijuana business licenses, and medical marijuana shops that didn’t have a license to sell recreational marijuana had to stop sales on December 31st.

Mayor Ted Wheeler assigned City Commissioner Chloe Eudaly as the person to catch up on the lagging licenses, according to Willamette Week. Business owners are frustrated and have complained for months that the process takes too long and costs too much. State regulators have granted more licenses than City Hall has.

The State has issued 73 Portland recreational marijuana licenses and City Hall has only issued 27.

There is no timeline given as to when those retail marijuana shop licenses will be caught up. Eudaly is a rookie, so it may take her a bit of time to get her footing and streamline the process for efficiency.
