Senate Bill 307 is circulating and it’s become a hot topic among Oregon lawmakers. The bill would allow for lounges at events, where attendees could consume marijuana.

The one thing that could get in the way is the Indoor Clean Air Act, according to KTVZ 21 News. The chat around down shows a split consensus about the lounges. If the bill does pass legislation, it would take effect on January 1, 2018.

Benjamin Hoffman, an Oregon pediatrician, said, “It weakens the Clean Air Act. Which is a really essential component in reducing exposure to secondhand smoke.”

One Bend resident said, “Sooner or later, I think that we’ll have pot lounges. I know in other countries it works out okay. I think we’ll manage, I think we’ll be fine. I’m not too worried about it.”

A student said, “I think personally, it’s good to get people used to it, because it’s going to happen. It’s growing so fast.”

In other Oregon news, $5.3-million in marijuana tax dollars was collected in January to get the year off to a great start in Oregon.
