Oregon to Allow for Hemp-Infused Alcoholic Beverages

Oregon Hemp Alcohol

While marijuana-infused alcoholic products remain banned in Oregon, hemp-infused alcoholic products have been approved. Oregon brewers are permitted to use industrial hemp, among following other rules.

The formula for the drink has to be approved by the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), according to KTVZ 21 News. The Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) will only approve labeling when all the TTB approves the formula and labeling requirements are met. This must all take place before the hemp-infused drinks can be imported, made or sold in the state.

It is not clear whether new liquor licenses will be issued specifically to sell hemp-infused alcoholic beverages. As the notice is written, it is assumed that current liquor licensees must provide the necessary documents to obtain approval to make, import or sell hemp-infused alcoholic beverages.
