Portland City Council Approves Marijuana Delivery Services

Oregon Cannabis Delivery

The Portland City Council voted unanimously to approve courier services for marijuana. The delivery-only service is permitted from the hours of 8 a.m. through 8 p.m.

A licensed marijuana retail courier service is not allowed to have a storefront or sell from a storefront, according to Oregon Live. The courier services all have to be licensed and must follow the same set of rules as all other marijuana-related businesses. The businesses have to be at least 1,000 feet from another marijuana business as well.

Those interested in opening a marijuana courier service have to fill out an application and personal information form. Violating any portion of these city codes results in fines up to $5,000. Proof of an alarm system and air filtration are also required.

Commissioner Amanda Fritz said, “Since the state regulations keep changing and the industry keep flourishing, we’ll be coming back with multiple changes I’m sure. I look forward to that time.”

The unanimous vote immediately adopted the addition of the marijuana courier services in Portland.
