Oregon Launching Permit Program for Marijuana Industry Workers

OR Marijuana Use

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission now requires anyone working in the recreational marijuana industry to be licensed. Even those that are seasonal employees must carry a license to work in the industry. In the application information is educational material and an online permit test.

The Marijuana Education Course was developed to educate potential industry employees regarding the regulations and safe handling of product in the industry, according to The Chief. Information is also provided for potential applications to learn about the symptoms of intoxication as dispensaries are not permitted to serve those appearing to be intoxicated.

Anyone wishing to apply should be at least 21 years old and should review the requirements on the Oregon Liquor Control Commission website prior to beginning the application process. Research certificate employees are not required to be licensed in Oregon.

Licenses will begin issuance on September 1. Marijuana business owners are required to register their employees through the Cannabis Tracking System, per state regulations.
